For those of you who are new to my Jayne's Crazy Kitchen Blog. Welcome! And... A Very Happy 2014, New Year to you!
I can't believe that Jayne's Crazy Kitchen has just opened and still in it's infancy stage, yet growing by leaps and bounds. Our blog officially opened on November 1st, 2013, and I am already overwhelmed by it's wonderful response so far!
Thank you Everyone, for your support and regular visits!
I am apologizing beforehand. A the moment we are experiencing a few minor technical issues. My photo's although being uploaded, are not being placed on my page. Just a little minor setback that I have found a temporary Band-Aid for. But, please, bear with us if the picture quality at the moment is not at the expected level. We are working hard to get it back and running smoothly again, as soon as possible.
Did you know that you can follow us on Face Book now too? I am pleased to announce our Face Book page is up and running. It differs slightly from our blog, because it does include collected food crafts, recipes, ideas, household tips and a lot of very useful information. Along with of course, the posts to our blog. Click "Jayne's Crazy Kitchen on Face Book", and give us a "thumbs up" like please. That's what keeps us going!
If this is your first visit to "Our Kitchen", Our goal is NOT to give you tons of high fat, pre packaged, high cholesterol recipes and casseroles that you can easily find on every social network and website. This is in no way a gourmet food site either. Instead, it is compiled, primarily from my own personal and family recipes. Of course there are a few, that were collected over the years and adapted, too. Most are quick, nutritionally sound, use fresh ingredients when available, and are delicious. We understand the hectic and busy lifestyles most of us share, realizing not many people have all day to spend in the kitchen. But... the "Crazy Kitchen" is so much more than that too. We have recently added a "Did you Know?" page, which is growing with food information I really didn't know that much about until I started researching them. It promises to be enlightening and will continue to be ongoing.
I am an RN, NOT a chef, with Multiple Sclerosis, who understands the need and value of eating well. And, who has cooked daily for close to 30 years now, for a family of 4. That's called ... "Creative Cooking" believe me! But, unlike many, I do not believe in using low fat, processed food, skim milk, sugar substitutes, or diet anything. I do believe it is far worse substituting those ingredients each time we cook, rather than cooking with foods that are fresh, have some needed fat and ample protein in it. Add fruits in forms of both fresh and juices, a favorite vegetable and you are ready to go. I do use sugar, and butter, because I like desserts! 8D. But again, always in proportional amounts, and then of course... a bit of self discipline helps too.
For me, cooking is a state of mind. I get lost while cooking, like most people do in their favorite television show! And my "mantra" is... "ALWAYS TASTE AS YOU GO! Odds are, if you don't like it, your family and guests won't either.
Remember, the key to eating healthy in my opinion is: All things... in moderation.Did you know that you can follow us on Face Book now too? Jayne's Crazy Kitchen, was set up, not only for the novice cook, but... for the busy mom who understands the need for nutritious meals for her active family, and... even the semi accomplished cooks too when looking for something fast and awesome. Whether you cannot boil water, or are a culinary expert, there is always something new and exciting to be found or learned, in our "Crazy Kitchen". Food tips, freezing, storage tips, measurement conversion, spice substitutions and even little known food facts in history are added regularly.
We will soon begin a 3 part "article" about of all things... WATER. I am still in the middle of writing it, but have already been amazed more than once, regarding things I never knew.
Primarily, my first and foremost goal, is to provide family friendly meals, that are easy to cook, nutritious, made with as many fresh ingredients as possible, provide variety, and quick enough to get everyone out of the house, with satisfied bellies, and on time for afterschool activities, practices and sports.
